Team 920 Nitrobots
FIRST Lego League is an international program for children created in a partnership between FIRST and the LEGO company. Like the model of the robotics league that many of these children will join in a few years, the Lego League announces a challenge to its teams every September. After 8 weeks of “crunch time,” the season culminates in international tournaments.
Team 920 is made up of junior members aged 9-14. They work hard and have a lot of fun. Someday, they will grow up to become fully fledged members of Team 1071, MAX.
The Nitrobots are currently the Connecticut State Champions.
The two main mentors of the team are Ted and Cindy Martin. The team is working 4 days a week to complete the planned lego robot. The team also currently started to program their robots.
The website for the current challenge is http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/fll/smartmove1.aspx.
The Nitrobots are working on their research project. They are convincing the town of Wolcott to include sidewalks for the childen near the schools to walk to school. This is to reduce the costs of bus maintenence, and to lower pollution in the small town.
Congratulations to the middle school robotics team on winning the Robot Design Award at the Bash at the Beach competition in Old Lyme, CT.
